arm liftbody lift surgery

The arm lift, also known as a brachioplasty, is an operation performed under general anaesthetics that removes excess loose skin from under the arms near the armpit area. During such a procedure, the areas that need to be lifted will first be marked. Then, excision is often combined with liposuction for a more thorough removal of undesired fat. In liposuction, a cannula, or a thin hollow tube, is inserted into the skin via a small incision. When attached to a suction device, it can physically remove stubborn fat from the body.

After removal of extra layers of fat and skin using these techniques, the edges of the skin flaps on the inside of the arm will then be stitched together into an imaginary shirt seam scar running from the inner elbow to the armpit. A surgical drain may be utilised to remove additional internal fluid that can collect in the body cavities during surgery.

The patient may need to stay in the hospital for one or two days, or even longer depending on the intensity of the procedure. Because the arm lift is an intensive surgical process, patients generally must be in good physical health and fitness and have been around the same weight for at least the past year. Since most of the stitches used under the skin will be absorbable and dissolvable, there is usually no need to return to have them removed.

In general, those who have significant areas of loose or flabby tissue on their arms, are physically healthy, do not smoke, have a positive yet realistic outlook for the surgery’s role in improving their appearance, and are determined to continue living a lifestyle of good nutrition and exercise will be qualified for the procedure. Smokers, those with chronic illnesses such as asthma or diabetes, or those with psychiatric issues may not be good candidates for an arm lift operation. Overweight patients should lose any excess weight first, wait 18 months for their body weight to stabilise, and then consider an arm lift if needed.

Regardless of the fact that in virtually every case, patients are highly pleased with the results of our arm lift procedures, an arm lift or any form of aesthetic surgery may not necessarily make you feel better about yourself. It will certainly benefit many patients who are unsatisfied with their body by improving their self-image and increasing confidence levels, but plastic surgery is by no means an automatic remedy to fundamental emotional and psychological issues. We insist that you maintain a realistic outlook, and our team will ensure your satisfaction with our procedure and the results of your arm lift.
