risks body lift surgery

As with any complex surgical operation, there are certain risks and complications associated with the procedure, including poor or inadequate wound healing, even though having major issues go wrong with a total or partial body lift operation is rather unusual. In our experience, patients are generally very satisfied with the results of the surgery and undergo a smooth recovery process. After your body lift is completed, we will arrange follow-up visits regularly with your surgeon or with another member of our medical team to monitor your recovery carefully and to treat or correct any serious complications immediately, should any arise.

Minor separations of the skin, decreased sensation on the areas of operation, and formation of seromas or pockets of fluid that can arise under the skin are the more common complications to go wrong. It is possible for you to experience a complete loss of sensation in certain areas that were operated on. Some of the potentially more serious risks of a complete or partial body lift include infection; nerve damage; a negative reaction to the anaesthetic; abnormal bleeding; and haematoma, which is collection of blood under the skin. Blood clotting can occur in the legs or the lungs, although precautions are taken to avoid this situation. If blood clots do form, you may need to take blood thinning medications. Fluid build-up under the skin can occur in the operated region, and this will need to be removed in the outpatient clinic using a needle. If you notice signs of any of these conditions, it is crucial to contact your surgeon as soon as possible.

We are dedicated to minimalising the risks of your surgery and facilitating the most comfortable operation setting, hospital stay, and recovery process possible. Again, it is critically important to discuss both the benefits and risks of a body lift with your surgeon, and carefully weigh your options to arrive at an informed decision about whether to go through with the surgery. We strongly suggest that you make the most of the opportunity we present for you to discuss with our past patients who underwent our body lift procedures to learn more about their firsthand experiences with the benefits and any risks of the body lift.
